«Cold Winter 2026: Kyiv and Seattle Together»
On February 13 at 6:00 pm, the first concert of the Ukrainian-American solidarity project «Cold Winter 2026: Kyiv and Seattle Together» will take place at the Point of Invincibility at Kyiv Central Railway Station.
The project envisions a series of classical concerts for Kyiv and for residents of the city gathering at Points of Invincibility, to be held through the end of February.
The program will feature Ukrainian and American classical music performed by the Kyiv Classic Orchestra under the direction of UNESCO Artist for Peace and People’s Artist of Ukraine Herman Makarenko.
The aim of the project is to demonstrate solidarity and express support for the people of Kyiv who, due to russian shelling, have been left without heat and electricity.
As Silke Johnston, CEO of The Humanity Funds, explained, the idea of the project is to show the solidarity of American citizens with Ukrainians, to offer support in difficult times, and to warm hearts with music during the harshest winter of this war.
“When everything else is taken away, warmth, safety, certainty, music restores what matters most, our humanity. These concerts are about solidarity with Ukrainians and about a simple message, you are not alone, we stand together,” emphasized the Director of The Humanity Funds.
According to UNESCO Artist for Peace and Head of the Kyiv Classic Orchestra Herman Makarenko, this is not the first collaboration with The Humanity Funds. The musicians are grateful to the foundation for its support of Ukraine during wartime and therefore immediately responded to this initiative.

Background: In May 2024, The Humanity Funds and the Kyiv Classic Orchestra joined forces for the charity concert «A Child’s Dream» in Seattle, which helped raise funds in support of the children’s hospital OKHMATDYT.
